Similarities of confucianism an buddhism?
im doing an essay and i need to know the similarities of
1) the origins
2)Scrolls,laws,sacred texts
4)beliefs
if anyone could help me with any of these thatd be great:)
1.) Confucianism and Buddhism are both not a religion. They do not have a supreme being to worship.
2.) One started in China, another from India.
3.) They both teach people to have proper conducts as human beings.
4.) Confucianism believes in life here and now, without truly explains what happened after life. The teaching mainly teaches people to Respect the Heaven and the Earth; respect your Emperor/ Country; respect your parents and your teachers. Be a responsible citizen of the country or the world. Be scholars and do well for your country and the people.
5.) Buddhism teaches five levels of attainment through personal cultivations. (a) Human, (b) Heavens, (c) Sravakas, (d) Prateyekabuddha, (e) Bodhisattvas. In addition, the perfection of Obtaining Buddhahood.
All these levels are due to different percepts and universal rules discovered by the Shakyamuni Buddha.
Therefore, the truth of this world if full of sufferings, hence the Four Nobles Truths, and Eight Folds Paths, Six Prajnaparamita, etc… The ultimate goal is to achieve enlightenment through mental understanding of the Universal Truth, and Realizing your True Self and develop your full compassion mind.

The Dhammapada (Classics of Indian Spirituality) $6.68 According to Eknath Easwaran, if all of the Buddhist sutras had been lost except the Dhammapada, it alone would be enough for readers to understand and appreciate the wisdom of the Buddha. Easwaran’s version of the Dhammapada goes a long way toward proving this. In a lengthy introduction, Easwaran summarizes the life of the Buddha and the main tenets of his thought, including key concepts such as … |

Tantra: Path of Ecstasy $9.95 Consider for a moment that the Dalai Lama is a tantric adept, and those visions of sexual bliss that the word “tantra” conjures up quickly dissolve. Tantra is more than the sex play of popular articles and books. Georg Feuerstein, authority of the yogic traditions, conjures up a much richer world of Hindu cosmology, philosophy, and theology. Tantra is a form of devotionalism, in which ritual … |

Buddhism $18.48 Buddhism is a major spiritual and ethical force in the world today–and certainly one of the fastest growing religions in the West. Its compelling insights into human existence offer an ancient and radical alternative to the materialism of the modern age. More and more people are turning to Buddhism to rediscover the human and the spiritual values they find lacking in traditional Western religions. Now, in this strikingly illustrated and authoritative volume, general readers have an illuminating introduction of one of the world’s great living faiths. Based on the most recent scholarship, Buddhism provides a vibrantly written and marvelously illustrated overview of this ancient and yet still vital religion. Each chapter is written by an acknowledged authority in the field. The book describes the origins and historic development of Buddhism as well as current trends. Perhaps most important, it explores the central, unifying principles of a religious and philosophical system that finds expression in an extraordinary diversity of forms, from the elaborate and esoteric rituals of Tantric Buddhism to the rarefied, minimalist refinement of Zen. A major section is devoted to an analysis of the religion’s more important sacred writings. And throughout the book, magnificent illustrations capture the sacred art, architecture, daily practices, and symbols inspired by the Buddha and his teaching. Buddhism in the United States has grown dramatically. Buddhism: The Illustrated Guide offers a wealth of reference information that will deepen one’s understanding and appreciation of this ancient Eastern faith. |
